Reasons To Celebrate Father's Day 👨

Father's Day Wish from Greenwood  High International School

‘Father’, the first and real hero of our lives. It’s said ‘Pitru Devo Bhava’ which means the father is equal to God. What can match his fight against all the odds for a lifetime to provide his kids with the best in everything? Nothing. Fatherhood is a responsibility that comes with love and affection, and not power. There's purity and even divinity in it.

His sacrifices are unparalleled and that’s a relationship, which can’t be replaced. A person might dream of a big house, a luxurious car etc., till he becomes a father, but later his dream will be mostly to see his child happy. Studies show that a father’s affection, support, and involvement contribute to a child’s social, cognitive and language development to a great extent.

What makes a Dad the hero of one’s life?
His tenacity and uncompromising attitude to give his kids everything they need. Right from education to discipline, the unconditional love and a shoulder his kids can always lean on, a dad will always want his kids to get the best. His selfless contribution in shaping his kids’ lives with his acquired wisdom and passing over of valuable life lessons are what eventually gives the society a responsible citizen. That is why there is a need to celebrate Father's Day.

It’s those special evenings that are unforgettable when a dad rushes back home from work to teach his child how to ride a bicycle or how to swim. A father feels watching his kids grow. It would be mostly him who would capture all those moments in pictures. A dad always stand by his kid’s side even when they fail. Always motivating them to succeed without quitting. A father always makes sure that his family feels safe. He builds confidence in kids and tells them that everything is fine. Well, he makes sure that everything is fine. That’s what makes him our real hero.

At Greenwood High, we know how important the role of a parent is in building a bright future for children. We might be one of the best IGCSE schools in Bangalore, we might provide the best-in-class infrastructure and a great environment for our students to learn. But, the love, affection, and guidance that a father can provide are beyond all those.

Greenwood High exists to fulfill our commitment in providing the best quality education for kids. Just like a father's care, we too go the extra mile in ensuring our students' well-being - be it academics, extra-curricular activities or building life skills and instilling human values in them. And just like a proud father celebrating his kids' achievements, we too take the same pride when our students excel in studies, sports and eventually in their careers.

This Father’s Day, we sincerely thank all the fathers for choosing and trusting Greenwood High with their kids' future. After all, we are one of the top IGCSE schools in Bangalore. And just like a father would want for his kids, we too want the best for our students.

How Can Students Improve Their Memory Power? 🤔 💡

There was a time when every educated individual was experienced in the art of memory. Indeed, it was considered a highlight of classical education in the language arts, logic and on par with grammar. In the world with some books, a good memory was quintessential to education and power.

With coming up of a lot of advanced technologies, the art of memory has been lost. These technologies have brought the power to record and externalize information. Today, people can barely recognise their own phone numbers forget about other crucial things. Can you recall the name of the person you were introduced to this morning? You can’t! Never mind, you are not the only one in the league of “bad memory”.

Here is a good news for you, Harry Lorayne, the best-selling author and a memory-training specialist, believes that - “There is no such thing as a bad memory.” It maybe a shock for those of you who have continuously been using the supposedly “bad memory” for ages. But he is absolutely right and below given points will proof his statement and best school in Bangalore agree with us. Following these steps anyone and everyone can improve their memory exponentially.

1. Divide your time and take a break
When you are studying, divide the time of studies into smaller chunks that are punctuated by periods of rest. It is really important to take some rest while performing intense mental activities for example studying a language or preparing for an exam. The next time you are working, studying or learning something, make a conscious effort to take a break after every 20 to 25 minutes.

2. Focus, pay attention
Every detail matters, says one of the best international board schools in Bangalore. There is a difference between seeing things and observing them. Both the words mean the same for most of us. However, both are completely different from each other. You see, forget. You observe, you remember. To observe a particular thing we need to pay attention. Attention given to anything will make you remember the same.

3. Music: The best way to learn
Undoubtedly music helps our brain to find out patterns and structure in information, because what music does, in part, is help us memorizing right to left. This means that as we all know about the functionality of left brain and right brain. Studying in best IB school, you will get to know the functionality of your brain. Right brain is more creative. Whereas, Left brain is more analytic. Also, music increases the concentration power and help us ignore other things in our surrounding as well.

4. Context Learning
In language, context is fundamental in order to memorize words and phrases. Luca Lampariello, a polyglot says “context is king.” Imagine you have visited Spain, a group of people come to you and ask to click a picture in Spanish. Will you understand it? Of course you will despite the fact you don’t know a single word of the language. Here, context plays it’s part. Basically, by their gesture you will understand what they are saying. Be attentive and learn to observe the context.

5. Visualization Techniques
This technique is the bedrock of memorable method and this is what experts use at the time of memorizing long strings of numbers, people’s names, or lists of words in competitions. There is a competition called memory championships and this kind of techniques are really helpful. Few of us have the great imagery capacity. Make the most of the qualities that you possess. The best ICSE schools in Bangalore have brought this into practice.

6. Read- Repeat- Review and Read- Repeat- Review
It is all about practising. Make it your daily habit as you do eat and sleep. Rote memorization is essentially memorizing without any technique, simply by repeating again and again a word, an idea, or a name until it just sticks. It’s boring, and, well, not efficient. As per some top international schools in Bangalore, reviewing, however, is to be used together with other memory aides. It is to help your brain remember better; after all, forgetting is a natural (and good) thing. So to convince your brain that the information you intend to memorize is important, reviewing will work its magic.

Conclusion
Remembering anything is a big task, believe me, this is a myth! As long as you want to remember something, you will. Because it is all their inside your head, all you need to do is - “SEARCH” inside it. To do so, you need a certain practice, a practice to train your mind or memories so to so. As Harry Lorayne says, “there are only trained or untrained memories.” Which one do you have, trained or untrained?

5 Easy Ways to Motivate School Students by best school teachers

In many cases, some students seem to be “dull” when he does not understand any subject or feel shy to ask questions. These students need special attention from teachers instead of ignorance. Teachers at top international schools in Bangalore are already following the approach of giving care as per the merit of the student.

All these students require is a little more attention, and an overall motivation plan for the entire class. With short attention spans, children tend to get bored and drift off, thereby, losing interest in lessons and under-performing in class.

Here is a list of methods that the best academic school in Bengaluru follow, to keep students motivated in class, as well as life in the long run.

·         Praises should be hard earned:
Children like to get praises from their favourite teachers. Children like to be recognized for their efforts and they like it very much when the teachers praise them. Teachers should specially see the dull students are achieving something or not and when they achieve that teachers should appreciate their hard work.

·         Positive reinforcement:
Teachers should not only punish students for doing anything wrong but they should also get praise from the same teachers who scolded them before.

·         Lessons that are fun:
Students don’t like to learn because of boring lessons. Students should be taught about the interesting lessons and teachers should teach them in an enjoyable & engaging way. The most backward student in the class will find interest about the project if this approach is followed.

·         Feedback and improvement:
If a student is not progressing towards his goal, then teachers should motivate that student. The teachers should give constructive feedback such that the students more interested about the subjects.

·         Set realistic goals:
Teachers must not pressurize students to achieve unrealistic goals. The teachers should have the real goals and they should track the status of goal achievement.

The best school teachers in Bangalore try plenty of ways to motivate students from their early age. They give individual care for student motivation. Teachers and mentors in other schools should find ways to improve the performance of “dull” students and improve their performances.

1.     Establish Professional Learning Communities:

Professional Learning Communities create the opportunities for continuous staff development by emphasizing the establishment of a shared vision, peer observation, instructional collaboration, collective learning, and action research. And the best part is that it’s free. The best schools in Bangalore have successfully engaged in Professional Learning Communities to address key issues like meeting rural students’ needs, establishing effective grading practices, and working with at-risk students.

2.     Partner with Researchers:

Around the country, top international schools in Bangalore are working to develop innovative classroom lessons, test new educational technologies, and uncover effective instructional practices. By partnering with local university faculty and other researchers, teachers may get to pilot a new math curriculum that emphasizes social justice, try out a revolutionary iPhone application, or experiment with using video games to enhance content area learning.

3.     Encourage Teachers to Use Social-Networking Sites:

In schools, a lot of the discussion about social networking focuses on how students of international schools in Bangalore are using (or misusing) popular sites like Facebook or Twitter. But social-networking sites can be incredibly useful for teachers, too. But social-networking sites aren’t just about linking people to resources.

4.     Make Collaboration a Priority.

In theory, the best international schools in Bangalore want teachers to collaborate with one another to develop lessons, address individual students’ learning needs, and share ideas and resources. Most teachers have little time within their one working school day to do so. In elementary schools with 20-minute lunch periods or high schools with five minutes between classes, there simply isn’t enough time to have meaningful (let alone ongoing) discussions. To address that, administrators are rethinking how to structure the school day to value teachers’ collaborative work and professional dialogue.

5.     Use Free Digital Tools:

There are quite a few audio-editing software programs. Students can use these to create their own podcasts and public service announcements.

Conclusion:

By following all the above-mentioned tips, schools can make their identity in the field of the education sector.
